Evans Funeral Home of Jefferson announces the death of Mr. Howard "Tiny" Cooper, age 87 of Pendergrass, Georgia who entered rest Saturday, January 10, 2026. Mr. Cooper was born in Pendergrass, Georgia a son of the late James Herschel Cooper and the late Era Oliver Cooper. Mr. Cooper was a 1955 Graduate of Jefferson High School where he earned the nickname "Tiny" while playing football, a nickname that would follow him the rest of his life. Mr. Cooper was a member of Talmo Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon and Johnnie's Hill Masonic Lodge. Mr. Cooper was a retired Soil Technician with the USDA. In addition to his parents, Mr. Cooper is preceded by his wife of sixty-four years, Carolyn Prestridge Cooper, and two brothers, Wiley and Michael Cooper.

Survivors include two daughters, Amy Brown and her husband Randall of Pendergrass, and Betsy Garner and her husband Joel of Buford. Grandchildren, Melissa Thomas (Chris) of Pendergrass and Eric Garner of Buford. Two great grandchildren, Breelan Thomas and Braylee Thomas of Pendergrass. Brother, Larry Cooper (Brenda) of LaFayette, Louisiana and a number of other relatives survive.

Funeral services will be held 1:00 P.M. Tuesday, January 13, 2026 from the Chapel of Evans Funeral Home with Reverends Doug Merck, Richard Merck and Derek Howard officiating with burial in the Talmo Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends 4:00 – 8:00 P.M. Monday, January 12, 2026 at Evans Funeral Home.

The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the staffs of Manor Lake Assisted Living of Hoschton and Northeast Georgia Hospice.
