Howard David Edwards, age 74, of Kiln, passed away on May 6, 2025, in Gulfport, Mississippi.
Born in Gulfport to the late Howard A. and Oletta Lambert Edwards, Howard was a proud graduate of Gulfport High School and went on to earn several trade certifications. A true master of many crafts, he worked in refrigeration, plumbing, carpentry, auto mechanics, and general mechanical repair. His career included time as a maintenance engineer with McDermott Offshore.
Howard was known for his ability to bring new life to discarded items—often returning from the dump with more than he took. He had a gift for fixing the broken and a passion for learning. Whether it was sewing, macramé, cooking, or tackling a new skill, he could do anything he set his mind to.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his beloved granddaughter, Vanessa Mauffray.
Howard is survived by his devoted wife of 49 years, Sandra Ann Mauffray Edwards; his children, Stacy A. Mauffray (Courtney) and Jessica Arceneaux (Jerry); his siblings, Jeanne St. Amant, Richard “Tommy” Edwards, and Betty Hope (Tim); his grandchildren, Victoria McKinley, Victor Mauffray, Kaylie Pyles, Michael Turan Jr., Brayley Nauditt, Breeley Henzen, Kynley Sellier, Megan Arceneaux, Haven Bruce, Korbyn Bruce, and Landon Robinson; and his cherished great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, May 13, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church on Kiln Delisle Road. Friends may visit beginning at 1:00 p.m. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery at Rotten Bayou.
