Howard Lee Gordon, Sr. age 82, transitioned on Friday, June 13, 2025 to be with the Lord in eternal rest. Howard was born November 6, 1942, in historic Princess Anne County, Virginia to John C.
Gordon and Edna Marie Ferebee. Howard was educated in the Princess Anne County School system. Howard married Rosa Lee Gregory in August 1964, to this union were born four children: Ramona, Howard Jr, Oneeka, and Stacy. Howard was affectionately known as 'HarvaLee, 'Dad, 'Fella, 'Pop-pop, and 'Got-got' by his family and community.
Howard was one of a kind - a man of unwavering love, quiet strength, wise counsel, and a heart big enough to carry his entire family. To his four children, he was their protector, provider, teacher, and greatest cheerleader. Whether through a firm word or a timely laugh, he shaped their lives in ways words cannot fully capture. His love was constant, his presence a pillar, and his legacy is forever etched into who they are. He was more than a father - he was a guiding light to his grandchildren and a loyal friend to many. He loved generously and gave freely of his wisdom and time. The impact of his life will continue to echo through every story told, every memory shared, and every life he touched.
Howard was employed by the City of Virginia Beach Refuge Department, retiring in 2005 after 42 years of employment. He was many things to many people and was skillful with his hands: a mechanic, a CDL driver, an artist, a musician, lawncare professional, a carpenter, a plumber, a man that could fix any electrical or electronic device. Even in the community, everyone knew they could ask Mr. HarvaLee if he could fix whatever was broken; and he did!!
The following family members preceded him in death: His parents John and Edna Gordon. His siblings: Norman Gordon, Carolyn Ann Palmer. His two grandsons: Devon Gordon and Zachery Gordon.
He leaves to cherish his memory: His siblings: Dorothy Joyner (Allen) of Virginia Beach, VA, Cecil Gordon (Denise) of New London, CT, Larry Gordon of Hampton, VA, and Demetri Gordon of Norfolk, VA. His aunt: Virginia Overton. His four children: Ramona Bingham (San Diego, CA), Howard L. Gordon, Jr. (wife, OluFemi), Oneeka Gordon, and Stacy Gordon (wife, Takoya) all of Virginia Beach, VA. His eleven Grandchildren: Justin Bennett (Los Angeles, CA), Jason Bennett (San Antonio, TX), Gabriel Gordon (Landover, MD), Gregory Gordon (Atlanta, GA), Jonnette Gordon, Sheraye Durham, TaNyla Sneed, Jah'Quan Sneed, Nia Gordon, Mikayla Johnson, X'Zavier Gordon, all of Virginia Beach, VA. His four Great Grandchildren: Lauryn Gordon (Virginia), Amiah Bennett, Elijah and Elliot Harviley (San Antonio, TX), and a host of bonus siblings, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Howard's last days were filled with love and laughter with his children and grandchildren.
