Howard Gump Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Shikany's Bonita Funeral Home on Jan. 29, 2026.
Howard L. "Leo" Gump, age 90, of Bonita Springs, Florida, passed away peacefully on January 23, 2026, at Joanne's House at Hope Hospice.

Leo was born on April 20, 1935, in Moundsville, West Virginia, a son of the late Howard A. Gump and Pearl Gump. He was raised in Moundsville and later moved to Bonita Springs, where he had been a resident for the past 45 years.

After graduating from high school, Leo proudly served his country in the United States Army. Following his military service, he spent many years working in the construction industry as a boilermaker and iron worker, proudly serving as a union laborer. Throughout his career, Leo worked on numerous high-rise buildings, power plants, roads, bridges, and tunnels, contributing to projects that shaped communities across the region.

After relocating to Bonita Springs, Leo continued his strong work ethic and dedication to service while working for 15 years with the Naples Water Department before retiring.

Leo was an active member of Springs Church and belonged to several organizations, including the Moose Lodge, Eagles, Elks Lodge, and the VFW, where he enjoyed fellowship and camaraderie.

He is survived by his loving wife, Carol Gump of Bonita Springs, Florida; his sister-in-law, Marsha Lewis of Bonita Springs, Florida; and his niece, Christine Fisher of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.

The family will receive friends on Friday, January 30, 2026, from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM at Shikany's Bonita Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM with Pastor Russ Winn officiating. Burial will follow at Naples Memorial Gardens.
