Howard Lynn Helton, aka: Warmonkey, age 70, passed away Tuesday, November 11, 2025.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Ezekiel and Vada Bugg, paternal grandparents, Chester and Agnes Helton, his parents, Howard and Lillie Mae Helton, and his beloved son, Corey Lynn Helton.
He is survived by his sister, Tammy Helton Hobbs, brother in law, Barrett Hobbs, nephew, Harrison Lynn Hobbs, his special friend Annette McDaniel, along with his beloved german Shepards, Milayla and Minnie.
Additionally, Lynn had many aunts, uncles, cousins, and more friends than he had stories...... And he had a lot of stories….
Additionally, the family would like to acknowledge our deepest gratitude to Terry and Belinda Jones. We could not have processed this great loss without your help.
Howard “Lynn” / “Warmonkey “ was a proud member of The Cherokee Tribe of North East Alabama.
His Cherokee given name was Iron Horseman. Lynn was a passionate collector, and well versed in Native American artifacts, and he enjoyed sharing that knowledge with everyone.
Lynn was an excellent carpenter, and could build just about anything. He worked alongside and learned lifelong carpenter skills from our grandfather, Ezekiel “Bay” Bugg as a younger man, and used his knowledge and experience to build a career.
Lynn was also a member of the boilermaker local union 263, Memphis TN.
He was a pressure welder, worked in QC overseeing jobs, as well served on the Executive Committee of his union as a trustee.
My brother had so many friends over 70 years, trying to acknowledge all of you would be impossible. Lynn had many, many friends from paper mill days, boilermakers, Harley Family, and lifelong friends. As life tends to happen, we hear stories of people that were impactful, but never get to meet them face to face. Many of Lynns friends fit that part of Lynn’s History, we hope you will share stories of Lynn with us Monday
Anyone who knew Lynn knew his love of life, adventures, and laughter crossed over work, hobbies, and maybe just a quick passing in life.
His wishes were for us to look left and right, share some food, and tell tall tales about him to celebrate each of your friendships with him.
Please join us to celebrate his life on Monday, November 24 at 2:00 PM at the Lodge at Pickwick landing (restaurant)
