Howard A. Kibby, Jr., affectionately known as Bud, age 87, of Indianapolis, Indiana, passed away peacefully on November 4, 2025.
Born on August 4, 1938, in Connersville, Indiana, Bud was the beloved son of the late Howard A. Kibby, Sr. and Thelma E. (Powers) Kibby.
On July 14, 1962, Bud married the love of his life, Ada J. Westerfield. Their marriage was a loving union that lasted 30 years until Ada's passing in 1992. Together, they created a home full of love, raising a family that was always his greatest pride.
A proud veteran of the United States Navy, Bud served his country with honor and commitment. He was a faithful member of Third Christian Church, as well as American Legion Post 355 and Millersville Masonic Lodge.
Bud will be remembered as a loyal, devoted, humble, and stoic man. He found great joy in spending time with his family and his dogs, cheering for the Cincinnati Reds, enjoying a round of golf with friends, and relaxing with classic television shows. His quiet strength and steady presence were a source of comfort and guidance to all who knew him.
He is survived by his four children, Mike Kibby, Rhonda Kibby, Greg (Betty) Kibby, and Tammy (Bobby) Douthitt; eight grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Ada and his sisters, Donna "Joyce" Griffard and Sandra "Sandy" Thorman.
A celebration of Bud's life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 8, 2025, at G. H. Herrmann Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 1605 S. State Road 135, Greenwood. Family and friends are invited to gather to honor his memory, share stories, and celebrate a life well lived from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service. He will be laid to rest at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 11th.
Memorial contributions in Bud's name may be made to your favorite animal shelter in his honor.
Bud's legacy of love, strength, and quiet dignity will live on in the hearts of those who were blessed to know him.
