It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Howard Dale LaFevers of Ozark, Missouri, on February 21, 2025. Born on October 19, 1949, to Ewin and Cleates LaFevers, Howard exemplified a life of integrity, perseverance, and dedication to his family, career, and faith.
Howard was a proud graduate of Raymore-Peculiar High School in Peculiar, Missouri. He went on to earn a Bachelor’s degree in Business Marketing from Southwest Missouri State University in 1975. His professional journey was marked by excellence, culminating in a distinguished career as Vice President for Dr. Pepper. Among his many accomplishments, he played a pivotal role in securing McDonald’s as a customer, a testament to his strategic vision and business acumen.
Howard married Viola LaFevers, with whom he shared 39 years of love and partnership. Together, they explored the world, traveling across the United States and internationally, creating a lifetime of cherished memories.
A man of remarkable discipline and endurance, Howard was an avid marathon runner, successfully completing prestigious races in Boston, New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, and London. He also participated in the renowned Hood to Coast Relay, a testament to his dedication and perseverance. Beyond his professional and athletic achievements, he was a passionate reader, particularly drawn to espionage thrillers, and found solace in nature, enjoying yard work and birdwatching.
Howard was a man of great character—honest, kind, and always impeccably composed. His wisdom and warmth left a lasting impact on those who had the privilege of knowing him. A devoted member of Cassidy United Methodist Church, he served as a trustee, demonstrating his unwavering faith and commitment to his community.
Howard’s legacy will endure in the hearts and minds of his family, friends, and all who were touched by his presence. His life was one of purpose, dedication, and quiet strength, leaving behind an example of excellence and integrity.
Howard is survived by his wife of 39 years, Viola LaFevers; a son, Jonathan LaFevers; a daughter, Jacquelyn LaFevers; a sister, Andrea (Ken) Schultz; two brothers, Darel (Deana) LaFevers, Lynn Kruse; one brother-in-law, Bill (Lisa) Gilbert; and his life-long best friend of 50+ years, Gary Stanton.
Howard is preceded in death by his parents; and one sister, Peggy Helton.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to: The Howard LaFevers Fund at Cassidy United Methodist Church. 5151 N. Fremont, Rd, Nixa, MO 65714.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, March 1, 2025, at Cassidy United Methodist Church, Ozark. A visitation will be held prior to the funeral service from 10:00 am to 11:00 am. Cremation will follow the service.
Arrangements are under the direction of Adams Funeral Home, Ozark. Cremation rites will be accorded by Adams Crematory
