Howard Albert Ost, 88, of Parkers Prairie, died Saturday, August 30, 2025 at his home.

He was born January 2, 1937 to Walter and Alice (Meyers) Ost in Parkers Prairie. He graduated from Parkers Prairie High School in 1955 and he served in the Army from 1959 - 1961.

On January 20, 1973 Howard married Jean Wierspecker in Lake Lillian.

Howard farmed his entire life. He was an articulate farmer and a perfectionist. He never missed a corner when baling hay. He purchased his first new tractor in 1976. After that he purchased a whole new line of John Deere equipment. His pride and joy was playing in the dirt with his new toys.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Jean; daughter, Marcia (Dale) Ratajesak of Miltona; son, Brian Ost of Grand Prairie, TX; grandchildren, Brianna Ratajesak of Old Harbor, AK and Nathan Ratajesak of Miltona; sisters, Eloise Wallner of Parkers Prairie and Anita Sibert of Big Lake; and brother-in-law, Vonnie Karger of Shoreview.

He is preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Margaret Speer, LaVonne Karger, and Janice Hayes; brother, Ken Ost; brothers and sister in-law, Dean Speer, Roger Wallner, Sid Sibert, Terry Hayes, and Phyllis Ost; nephews, Roger Sibert, Leslie Sibert, and Danny Hayes; niece, Denise Speer; and great nephew, Jacob Hertwig.

A private family service will be held at a later date.
