Howard Arthur Phillips, 64, of Colorado Springs, CO, died unexpectedly on October 27, 2025.
Born July 22, 1961, in Peoria, IL, to the late Gordon Arthur Phillips and Evelyn Lucille (McVicker) Phillips, Howard attended Manual High School in Peoria during the late 1970s.
Howard enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and served honorably from 1980 to 1988, specializing in telecommunications.
In March 1991, Howard married Marcy Lynn Cooper in Colorado Springs, CO. They had two daughters: Marissa Ann (b. 1991) and Rachel Hope (b. 1995).
Following his military service, Howard remained in Colorado Springs, continuing his career in telecommunications and later transitioning to electronic security and access control with LVW Electronics in 1999. He became a one-of-a-kind expert in his field, finding great joy in service calls for elderly communities, schools, military bases, and police departments. He was also especially proud of his work on large projects, including the sound system at the Pepsi Center (now Ball Arena) in Denver, CO.
A man of many hobbies, Howard was an amateur radio enthusiast (KB0PQK) and enjoyed video games, firearms, 3D printing, sleight-of-hand magic, and camping. He will especially be remembered as a dedicated professional, a fiercely proud father, a generous gift-giver, and for his unique wit and offbeat humor. More than any tribute, Howard would wish for those who knew him to take time to share their knowledge of technology and tools with friends and family.
Howard was preceded in death by his parents, Gordon Arthur Phillips and Evelyn Lucille McVicker.
He is survived by his daughters, Marissa Ann Phillips and Rachel Hope Phillips; his beloved girlfriend, Kimberly Brockman; the mother of his children, Marcy Lynn Cooper; his two younger siblings, Melody and Greg; and five older half-siblings: Bobbie, DeeDee, Ken, Norm, and Jim.
Bernard Funeral Home of Russell Springs, KY, handled the cremation arrangements. Howard's remains were then transported to Colorado Springs by his daughters.

In lieu of flowers, Howard's daughters encourage donations to be made in his name to support The Right to Repair movement at repair.org.

Howard never did anything half way. He always gave 110% of himself. When working, he gave 110%. When raising his daughters he gave 110%. Whenever a friend was in need, he gave 110%. When welcoming me into his family, I felt it 110%. I love you Howard. I miss you.

This is the last text message he sent me. A photo of a smile. A 110% smile.

Howard was my first mentor at LVW and then effectively my first coworker. He taught me my first trade which I am still proudly practicing today.
Both his patience with me and his sense of humor were legendary.
Howard this is a kick in the guts buddy, you will be missed.

I am truly saddened to hear of Howard´s passing. I had the privilege of working alongside him, and he was not only incredibly skilled but someone whose humor, patience, and generosity made every day better. Howard was the kind of coworker who left a lasting impression-always willing to share his knowledge, always ready with a laugh, and always dedicated to doing things the right way.

My deepest condolences to his daughters, family, and loved ones. May you find comfort in the countless lives he touched and the legacy of kindness and expertise he leaves behind.
