Howard J. Robinson M.D.

Howard J. Robinson, M.D. passed away on Saturday, January 4, 2025, at the age of 78, in his hometown of Columbia, South Carolina. He was preceded in death by his father, Abraham Robinson, mother, Annette Robinson, and sister, Rita Robinson.
Howard graduated from Emory University and Chicago Medical School. After completing residency in Birmingham, he returned to Columbia to practice medicine. He was proud to have been voted "Best Doctor", as documented by The State newspaper in the 1990s. His devotion to patient care was exceptional. Howard was also an accomplished golfer, often maintaining a low, single-digit handicap. He committed to a life of golf at a young age, and was incredibly knowledgeable about the subject, with some referring to him as "Dr. Golf." Howard sought challenges and never kept an idle mind; he learned violin and passed the MENSA exam in recent years. He was a passionate Alabama football fan and attended three National Championship wins. Howard was also the definition of a devoted father, grandfather, husband, and friend.
He is survived and greatly missed by Sharon Robinson, sons, Hal (Rebecca) Robinson and Brad Robinson, daughter, Marci (Will) Saltzman, and six grandchildren, Sadye, Jonah, Max, Cody, Ryan, and Zac.
The graveside service for Howard will be held at 11 o'clock, Wednesday, January 8th, at Beth Shalom Arcadia Lakes Cemetery, 1401 Arcadia Lakes, Columbia, SC.
