Howard Gerald Sigurdson, 99, of Albert Lea, passed away peacefully on May 4, 2025, at Thorne Crest Senior Community in Albert Lea.
Born in Albert Lea, Minnesota, Howard was the son of Helmer and Gunda (Gunderson) Sigurdson. He was a remarkable man whose life was defined by his unwavering devotion to family, friends, and community.
A proud veteran of the Army, Howard served his country during World War II, a period of his life he reflected upon with pride and honor. His military service instilled in him a deep sense of duty and commitment that he carried throughout his life.
After returning home, Howard dedicated over 35 years to working at the Ford dealership. Howard was a longtime member of Grace Lutheran Church and the Albert Lea American Legion Post 56.
On April 16, 2025, Howard celebrated an incredible milestone—his 75th wedding anniversary with his beloved wife, Doris (Bartness) Sigurdson. Their enduring love was beautifully highlighted in a feature write-up in the Albert Lea Tribune, celebrating their journey together. Howard was a devoted husband, and his commitment to Doris was evident in every facet of their life together. Theirs was a partnership filled with joy, laughter, and an abundance of cherished memories. Howard found great joy in spending time with his family, enjoying long drives with Doris, and in their younger years, playing cards and dancing at the Palm Garden.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00AM on Saturday, May 10, 2025, at Central Freeborn Lutheran Church, with a visitation beginning at 10:00AM. Burial will be held at Central Lutheran Cemetery.
Those left to cherish Howard’s memory include his wife of 75 years, Doris Sigurdson; three children, Craig (Wendy) Sigurdson, Julie (Mike) Dandrea, and Diane (Mike Tyo) Sigurdson; nine grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and several extended family members.
