Howard L. Snyder, also known as "Haney", of Connersville passed away in the comfort of his home with his family by his side on December 19, 2025, at the age of 88. Howard was born in rural Fayette County on September 23, 1937, the son of Albert and Madeline Hilbert Snyder.
He graduated from Connersville High School in 1956 and began his Apprenticeship for Journeyman Plumber/Pipefitter. On June 6, 1957, at Calvary Baptist Church in Connersville, he was united in marriage to the former Shirley Barrows. They shared 68 years of marriage prior to his death. Their union was blessed with two children.
He was a long time 4-H Leader for the Sharp Shooters and NRA certified muzzleloader instructor. He enjoyed tending his farm and animals, hunting with his coon dogs or rabbit dogs, trapping, fishing and gardening. He had a deep connection with all animals, from birds to livestock and everything in between. Howard proudly watched his children and grandchildren participate in the 4-H Swine Shows.
Howard worked in Skilled Trades as a Journeyman Plumber/Pipefitter for 30 years at D&M/WCI until the plant closed and then hired into Ford/Visteon for 11 years, retiring in 2004 to become a full-time farmer.
His love and memories will be cherished by his wife, Shirley; children, Debbie (Darrell) Dunaway and David (Beth) Snyder; a brother, Donald (Midge) Snyder and sister-in-law, Mina Snyder. He will be in the thoughts of his grandchildren, Michael Snyder, Joshua Snyder, and Jessica (Travis) Johnson; his great grandchildren, Treyton Johnson, Addilynn Johnson, Cale Johnson, and Maykon Snyder, as well as several nieces.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a brother, Johnny Snyder.
Friends and family may gather to share memories on Monday evening December 22, 2025, at Urban Winkler Funeral Home from 4:00 to 6:00 pm. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday afternoon, December 23, 2024, at 1:00 pm. Burial will be at Dale Cemetery.
