Howard Clark Stephens II, Age 82, of Rochester Hills, passed away on May 24th after a lengthy battle with Parkinson's Disease. Howard was born on October 23, 1940 to Helen (Ruehle) and Howard Stephens. He graduated in 1958 from Eastern High School, and attended Wayne State and Oakland University. Howard served in the U.S. Army from 1958-1962, stationed in several US locations as well as overseas in Turkey for over a year.
In 1966, he married Judith Stephens (Rommeck). They were blessed to have three children. Janet and husband Roger (Marchelletta) have three children, Lauren (m. Jeffrey Mitchell), Michael, and Braden. Christine and husband Robert (Files) have three children, Joseph, Daniel, and Benjamin. Howard and wife Rachelle (Pomponi) have two children, Catherine and Christine. He is survived by his twin brother, Tom (m. Marion) and was preceded in death by his older sister, Joyce.
As a developer of various IT systems, he spent his career with computers. He started at the Detroit Board of Education in the sixties through the early seventies, implementing payroll and other administrative systems. He developed child support system for Macomb County Friend of the Court. He began working for General Motors in 1974 and was promoted several times throughout his career for various achievements. He transitioned to EDS in 1984 as part of the GM acquisition and continued to excel. Eventually, he went into the hospital and medical care field to improve the data network at local hospitals. He retired in 2013 to enjoy watching grandkids games and events along with his wife, Judy.
Howard enjoyed spending time with his family whether it was helping with house projects, attending games, or offering life advice. He traveled with his family to California, Florida, Washington DC, Quebec, and more local, to Alpena and Traverse City numerous times. In his youth, he earned Eagle Scout, enjoyed fixing cars, and hanging out with close friends. Throughout his life, he shared wisdom, sincerity, and heart, and is often quoted by his family in various capacities.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 31 at 11:00am at Modetz Funeral Home, with viewing on Tuesday, May 30 from 3:00-8:00pm. 339 Walnut Boulevard, Rochester, MI 48307.
