Nancy K. Howland, 77, of Hannibal, MO, passed away at 6:05 PM, Wednesday, February 26, 2025, at Hannibal Regional Hospital in Hannibal, MO.
There will be no services.
Arrangements for cremation are under the direction of the James O'Donnell Funeral Home in Hannibal, MO.
Nancy was born March 31, 1947, in Warrensburg, MO to Harley Eugene Marr and Lillian Silvers Marr.
Survivors include her three sons, Ryan Howland (Robin) of Hannibal, MO, Andrew Howland (Mindi) of Fort Worth, TX, and Nathaniel Howland (Tammy) of Columbia, MO; one sister, Patsy Swope (Bill) of Warrensburg, MO; five grandchildren, Chloe Howland, Kiley Howland, Annastasia Howland, Asher Howland, and Tyler Barrett; and one great grandchild, Maevrie Howland. She is also survived by her best friend, Becky Bivens of Vigo Park, TX.
Nancy was preceded in death by her parents.
Nancy worked at the Coppell Public Library in Coppell, TX while raising her three boys and attending Texas Women's University where she earned her Master's Degree in Library Science in 1990.
Nancy began her career where she served as the Children's Librarian at the Hannibal Free Public Library from 1991 to 1996, she later moved to Holts Summit, MO working as the Library Consultant in Jefferson City at the Missouri State Library. Nancy retired as the Jackson County Regional Library Director in Jackson, MO where she was the director over six libraries.
An avid reader, Nancy found peace and adventure within the pages of countless books, with British mysteries holding a special place in her heart. Gone with the Wind was her all-time favorite book. Above all, Nancy's greatest delight was in spending time with her grandchildren and family. Each moment was cherished, each memory imprinted with the tenderness and care.
Nancy was Christian by faith.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Hannibal Children's Library.
