Hoy Odell Young

Hoy Odell Young, 88, of Ponca City, OK, died on Thursday, October 2, 2025. Viewing will be from 9:00 am, to 11:00 am, Tuesday, October 7, 2025, with a Funeral Ceremony beginning at 11:00 am, at Trout Funeral Home Chapel. Chris Short will officiate. Burial will immediately follow at Resthaven Memorial Park. Arrangements are under the direction of Trout Funeral Home & Crematory, 505 W. Grand Ave, Ponca City, OK, 74601.

Hoy was born on Sunday, October 11, 1936, in Putnam, OK, to Cecil Ray and Zete Marie (Foust) Young. After graduating from high school, he married Merle Rawson on December 24, 1955. They would have celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary this year. He worked as butcher, and an Osage County rancher. He could fix anything and was a jack-of-all-trades. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.

Hoy is survived by: his wife, Merle, of the home; children, Danita McBride and husband, Tim, of Ponca City, OK, Randy Young and wife, Melody, of Tulsa, OK, James Young and wife, Jill, of Ponca City, OK, Ginger Robinson and husband, Greg, of Balko, OK; 12 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; brothers Huell Young and wife, Juanita, of Tulsa, OK, and Roy Young and wife, Oleta, of Seiling, OK; several nieces, nephews, family members, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother, Andrew Young.

Pallbearers will be Drew Shelton, Tannor Shelton, Cash Young, Tanner Young, Justin Robinson, Jeremy McBride. Honorary Pallbearer will be Jackson short.
