Hubert Gregory Smith
Hubert “Greg” Gregory Smith, 62, passed away on March 10, 2024 in Okeechobee, Florida.
Greg, formerly of Winchester, Kentucky, moved to Florida in 2022 with his wife to help with the care of his in-laws, George and Jo Randolph.
Greg worked at McCammish Mfg. in Winchester for 20 years, until they went out of business. He then went to work for Catalent Pharma Solutions for 3 years before he started having health concerns.
Greg coached Winchester Jr.-Sr. League baseball for 3 years then coached Winchester 9-12 Little League baseball for 22 years. He enjoyed teaching baseball to the boys on his teams. He tried to instill in them the love of the game and friendly competition. He would tell his players “Win with class and lose with class.”
Greg was a wonderful, loving, caring husband. He was crazy in love with his grandchildren and was about the best papaw a child could ask for.
Survivors include his wife, Susan Randolph Smith; daughter, Ashley Renee Lainhart and her children, Lexi Lainhart Smith and Logan Durham; son, Joshua Michael (Tess) Walters and their children, Tagan Walters, and Alyee Walters; daughter, Ashley Nicole (Thor) DuJardin and their children, Cadence Farmer, Persephone DuJardin, and Coraline DuJardin; daughter, Cassandra Rae (Jesse) Fifer and their children, Haylee Smith, Kinley Smith, and Harper Smith; sisters, Audrey Smith and Treasa Hatton; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Hubert Smith, mother, Fern Sparks Smith, and son, Gregory Scott Smith.
Visitation will be Tuesday, March 19, 2024, starting 1-2 PM at the Hill Street Pentecostal Church of God. The services will start at 2:00 PM. Kenny Speaks will be officiating. Burial will take place at Winchester Cemetery in Winchester, Kentucky.
