Hugh Alexander Davies, 84, was born on January 26, 1941, and died on July 19, 2025. He was born on a farm in Cardiff, Wales, to the late Trevor Howell and Ann Lorina Davies, and he was the oldest of five children. He moved to the United States in 1967 to take a job as a European car mechanic. He married Maryjane Higgins in 1968, and opened Hugh Davies Motors in 1969, which launched a 35 year career as a mechanic. They had two boys. He was very proud of his kids. He was loved by so many. He has family and friends on four continents. He was very active in his church community, singing in the choir, teaching in adult Sunday school, and giving the weekly children’s message. He was also active in car clubs which included high performance driving instruction, tours, racing and more.
He enjoyed traveling. He was an avid reader. He was a jack of all trades. He always had a long list of projects on his to do lists. Whether it was building or repairing something on his 5-acre farm, or repairing or restoring a car, motorcycle, or lawnmower. He always had many reasons to get up in the morning.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Angela. He is survived by his wife Mary, his sons Trevor and James, and his siblings Martin, Gillian, and Marilyn.
A celebration of Hugh's life will take place on Friday, July 25, 2025, at Faith Global Methodist Church, Neenah, from 1:30 pm to 3:30 pm.
