Hugh Fletcher Obituary

Published by Calhoun Funeral Home Rockside Road - Bedford Heights on Nov. 17, 2020.
Hugh Thomas born March 25, 1958, the only son of Hugh and Marian (Payne) passed from this earth to his heavenly home on Wednesday October 28, 2020. He was preceded in death by his parents and beloved granddaughter, Ravyn Boykin.

Hugh accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Bible Baptist Church by Dr. Walter Banks Sr.

Hugh was raised as a brother with his nephew Michael Fletcher. He was a product of the Cleveland Public School system and graduated from John Adams in 1976 where he was a member of the band. He received his BS in Computer Science in 1988 from Cleveland State University.

Hugh met Robyn in 1983 when they were both employed for the Northeast Ohio Areawide Coordinating Agency (NOACA). After a short courtship, they united in matrimony in 1984 and Hugh became father to a bonus son, LeBreon Raynard Williams.

In 1988, God blessed Hugh and Robyn with another son, Thomas Christian, followed by their only daughter, Laura Marielle in 1993.

Hugh was a gentle giant. Standing 6'3" he spoke with a quiet and humble voice. An avid outdoorsman who enjoyed running, fishing, camping and was in the process of obtaining his scuba diving certification. Hugh was known as the neighborhood dad and Mr. Fixit. He mentored several kids in the Maple Heights Community, sharing with them his skills of bicycle repair, carpentry and auto detailing and repair. If Hugh couldn't fix it then he would just build another one. His home was a showcase for his DIY hottub, furniture and various other projects.

Hugh enjoyed traveling. He wanted to see the world and share it with his family and friends. This year he fulfilled a dream of traveling to Hawaii with Robyn and longtime friends Joe and Melanie Brown. Hugh enjoyed cruising and was eager to plan a post-Covid adventure.

Hugh's love of technology led him to a career as a computer programmer. Over the years he worked for several companies including Hanna Mining, NOACA and University Hospital. For the past 16 years he was employed as a business analyst at Key Bank.

Hugh's love of music started as a child and was fostered by family friend Mr. Alan Robinson and lessons at the Cleveland Supplementary Center. He enjoyed all genres of music and could name that tune in 15 notes or less. He played several instruments including the saxophone and clarinet.

Hugh is survived by his wife, Robyn, sons, LeBreon Williams and Thomas Fletcher, daughter Laura Fletcher, son-in-law to be David Boykin, grandchildren, Christian and Mason Fletcher, sister, Bernice Fletcher, nephew, Michael Fletcher (Adrianne), a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
