Hugh Harroun Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Dryer Funeral Home, Inc. on Dec. 15, 2025.
Hugh D. "Huey" Harroun, 84, of Holly, MI passed away in his home, Dec.10, 2025.

He was born June 1, 1941 in Peoria, IL to Floyd and Lorene Shores Harroun. He married his wife, Debbie Tegard Sept. 24, 2005, in a garden wedding at their home.

He is survived by his wife, his daughter Galina Harroun of Bay City, MI, and 8 year old grandson Maksim. His faithful fur companions; Savi, Gabby Rose & Cody will miss him terribly, as will the rest of his family.

Hugh was a 1960 graduate of El Paso High School where he was active in student council, National Honor Society, class president, and proudly a member of the El Paso Comets Mid-State Champion football team. He continued his education at Western University in Macomb, IL, and Illinois State Normal University.

Hugh began his career working at General Electric in Bloomington, IL, completing their Tool and Die apprentice program. He later worked at Caterpillar Tractor Co. in Peoria, IL where he completed the four year course of apprenticeship to the Patternmaker Trade. These programs provided Hugh the basis for his own designs, which led him to Michigan. Hugh developed a machine that created his concept for tooling used, in the mold industry. He began selling his concepts out of the trunk of his car, until in 1972, Hugh incorporated Harroun Enterprises based in the Industrial Park, located on Fenway Circle, in Fenton, Mi. Later, known worldwide as "Home of the Moldmasher". The last 53 years brought many changes to the company, but the singular constant was Hugh's ownership, and precision tool development.

Hugh loved his family and worked hard to provide a comfortable home for his wife, daughter, and later his grandson. Hugh's interests were varied. He was an avid golfer, having been a member of Spring Meadows Country Club, for many years. He loved cars, and owned several, along with two Harley Davidson's. He was a member of Open Gate Garden Club for over 20 years. He was a proud Republican Delegate, representing Rose Township for multiple terms. Having been a long time animal lover, he previously had been on the advisory board, for Wedrose Acres Animal Sanctuary

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, Dec.19, 2025 at Dryer Funeral Home, in Holly. Pastor Daniel Nicholas Stoicu will officiate. Visitation will be held Thursday, Dec. 18, 2025 from 4-7 p.m. and one hour prior to the funeral, on Friday.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Wedrose Acres, located in Gridley, IL.
