In Loving Memory of Hugh J. Risher ("Bubba") May 19, 1952 – May 16, 2025
With heavy hearts and deep love, we announce the passing of Hugh J. Risher, affectionately known to many as "Bubba," who went home to be with the Lord on May 16, 2025, just three days before his 73rd birthday.
To know Hugh was to love him. His presence was magnetic, his joy contagious, and his laughter was the kind that lingered long after the moment had passed. He had a way of turning ordinary days into unforgettable memories. Whether through his sharp wit, his boundless kindness, or his unforgettable sense of humor, Hugh brought life and light into every room he entered.
A gifted worship leader and passionate man of faith, Hugh poured his soul into every note he sang and every song he led. Music was not just a calling-it was the very language of his heart. Through decades of ministry, he used his voice to exalt God and draw others into His presence, leaving a spiritual legacy that will echo for generations.
More than anything, Hugh was a man devoted to the people he loved. His greatest joy was his family, and his pride in them was unmistakable. He was a faithful husband, a loving father, a deeply devoted grandfather, a loyal brother, and a treasured friend.
Hugh was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Hugh Jay and Martha Ellen Risher. He is survived by his devoted wife, Deborah Hughes Risher; his daughters, Victoria Bradleigh Schklair (Richard) and Codi Ashton Gosney (Joshua); and his treasured grandchildren: Alexandra and Emery Schklair, and Ellington and Ezra Gosney. He also leaves behind his dear siblings, Sherri, Tom (Marci), and Jack (Joann), along with many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who became like family.
Though we grieve his absence, we rejoice in the truth that his song is not over. It continues in the lives he touched, the memories he shaped, and the love he freely gave. His was a life well-lived, and he will be deeply missed.
A celebration of Hugh's life will be held at Lindale Church (503 Reid St., Houston, TX 77022) on Thursday, May 22nd. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m., followed by a memorial service at 11:00 a.m. All who knew and loved Hugh are invited to gather, share, remember, and rejoice in the life of a man who gave so much to so many.
