Hulen Ray Throne, 91, of
Irving, Texas, passed away peacefully on September 5, 2025, in Weatherford, Texas. A devoted father, proud veteran, and hardworking provider, Hulen will be remembered as a loving father, paw paw, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend to all who knew and loved him.
Born on January 17, 1934, in Strong City, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma, Hulen was the son of Oscar Throne and Lorena Maye Ganger. He grew up with a strong sense of responsibility and commitment-values that would guide him throughout his life.
Hulen served honorably in the United States Army and was discharged on November 13, 1957. His time in the military instilled in him a deep sense of duty and resilience that he carried into every aspect of his life.
On November 28, 1962, Hulen married E.Y. Sutton. Together they built a life centered around family and perseverance. Hulen worked many different jobs over the years to support his loved ones before retiring as a trailer mechanic-a career that reflected his hands-on skill and unwavering work ethic.
He was the proud father of four daughters: Laura Underwood of Justin, Texas; Audrey Wood and husband George of
Irving, Texas; Sherry Lewis and husband Ricky of Fort Worth, Texas; and Tosseanna Fetty and husband Jeremy of Azle, Texas. His love for his daughters was evident in everything he did. Even after they were grown with families of their own, Hulen remained a constant source of support and guidance.
Hulen's legacy lives on through his grandchildren: Michael Throne; Stephanie Aleman; Cody Lewis; Bridget Lewis; Andrew Lewis; Brittany Northcutt; Lindsey Jeffcoat; Bailey Jeffcoat; Lacey Jeffcoat; and Brandy Jeffcoat. He also leaves behind great-grandchildren Jasmyn Throne; Kennedy Throne; Greyson Throne; Emmett Throne; Cadence Wood; Olivia Aleman; Aria Aleman; Levi Aleman; Gabriella Lewis; Makaila Lewis; Zaiden Lewis; Henry Lewis; Sandra Northcutt; and Spencer Northcutt. His extended family includes numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends who were touched by his kindness and strength.
He is survived by his sisters Marie Provence and Carol Payne as well as his stepsister Elanie Simpson Morris. He was preceded in death by his mother Lorena Ganger; father Oscar Throne; stepmother Mafelda Throne; brother Gilbert Throne; and sister Renee Throne Marriott.
Outside of work and family life, Hulen found joy in simple pleasures. He loved hunting and fishing-activities that connected him to nature-and cherished long walks with his beloved dog Roscoe. His bond with Roscoe was deep and enduring.
Those who knew Hulen knew how deeply he loved his family. He worked tirelessly to provide for them not just materially but emotionally-offering help whenever it was needed without hesitation or complaint. His strength lay not only in what he did but in how he lived-with quiet dignity, steadfast loyalty, and an open heart.
His memory will live on through the generations he helped raise and the lives he touched along the way.
May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him. A Memorial Service will be held on September 28, 2025, from 02:00 PM to 04:00 PM at Irving Elk's Lodge 2015 N. Britain Rd. Irving Texas 75061
