Funeral service for Hulene Person, age 92, of Sulphur Springs, Texas will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 29, 2025 at Mitchell Chapel Church of God in Sulphur Springs, Texas. Interment will follow at Mel Haven Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Friday, March 28, 2025 at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home in Sulphur Springs, Texas. Ms. Person passed away at Houston Methodist Sugarland Hospital on Thursday, March 20, 2025.
Mother Hulene Bell Person was born on May 15, 1932 in Pittsburg, TX to Zenophur Cooper Bell and Burdie Mae Warren Bell. She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Mary Madgalene Gasaway. She was united in Holy Matrimony to Louie B. Person, Sr on October 15, 1951. To this union, six children were born; three boys and three girls. She was preceded in death by her husband and one daughter, Phoebe “Cookie” Lee.
She heard and believed in the Gospel of Jesus Christ and united with the Mitchell Chapel Church of God in Christ under the leadership of the late Eld. C.H. McNeese. Mother Person was a homemaker and she dedicated her life to cleaning many houses and offices.
She leaves to cherish her memories, two daughters, Linda “Lynn” Adams of Houston, TX and Gyvorn “Gee” Shamlin of Sulphur Springs, TX. Three sons, Melvin “Love” (Charlotte) Person, Terry “TP” Person, and Louie B “TooLou” (June) Person, Jr. of Sulphur Springs, TX, twenty-two grandchildren, thirty great-grandchildren, ten great-great grandchildren, a dear special sister, Clarie Buenz and special niece Wendy and family and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
