Obituary published on Legacy.com by Unity Funeral Home & Cremation Services, LLC - Moss Point on Feb. 26, 2026.
Eric Duane Blackmon, I was born as the 1st son to Lewis and Ruby Nell Carr Blackmon in Tylertown, MS on April 04, 1972. He moved to Miami, Florida at an early age because of his father's military obligations, along with his sister until military obligations moved the family to the Mississippi Gulf Coast where he was raised by his father and mother. He transitioned from this life to his eternal home on Wednesday, February 25, 2026.

Mr. Blackmon received Christ early in life and became a member of Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church for many years. He was preceded in death by his parents: Lewis and Ruby Nell Carr Blackmon; his maternal grandparents: Edro and Willie Mae Carr Brock; his paternal grandparents: D. B. and Birdie Mae Blackmon; his uncles: J. C. Magee, Vernell Brock, Sr., Robert Blackmon, and William Blackmon; brother-in-law: Mark Smith.

Mr. Blackmon was a graduate of Moss Point High School, class of 1990. After graduating high school, he attended Mississippi Valley State University on a full Baseball scholarship, but he eventually transferred to Faulkner State, where he played baseball and graduated. After college, he held numerous jobs, but eventually he settled on a career at Ingalls Shipbuilding, where he was an Electrician (specializing in fiber optics) until his health forced him to retire.

Mr. Blackmon leaves to cherish his memories his loving children: Eric Blackmon II and Briauna Blackmon of Jacksonville ,FL ; Tia Beckham of Mt. Veron, AL; Erica Crittenden Blackmon and Devin Loggins Blackmon of Memphis, TN; grandchildren: Bailee, Lauryn, Erin, Aria, Averi, and Da'Nyla; siblings: Tina Blackmon-Smith of Biloxi, MS; Donta (Pamela) Blackmon of Mobile, Al; Lewis Blackmon II of Mesquite, TX; and Melvin Blackmon of CA; a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, relatives, and friends.
