Ok I.V. Pickering, age 81 of Vinemont, passed away Tuesday, December 19, 2023 at Cullman Regional Medical Center in Cullman, Alabama.
She was born to Matthew Trussell and Dorthy Christine Watts in Arley, Alabama on September 13, 1942.
I.V. retired from the Florida Department of Corrections as a talented communication supervisor.
I.V. grew up in West Hollywood, Florida in Broward County. At the age of 16, she with her siblings and parents, moved to Okeechobee, Florida. She later graduated high school in Martin County Florida in 1960. She attended Dunklin Memorial Baptist Church in Indian Town in Martin County, Florida. Here she later met and married her husband of 62 years, Abriel George “Jody” Pickering on May 27, 1961.
I.V. is survived by her husband, Abriel George “Jody” Pickering; son, Joey Wayne Pickering (Brittany); grandchildren, Heather Pickering Wade (Michael) and Joshua Braxton Pickering; two great grandchildren, Izabella Wade and Gabriel Wade; sisters, Geraldine Trussell Bates (Jerry) of Cullman Alabama, and Kathleen Trussell Jenkins (Bill) of Okeechobee, Florida; and a host of family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Mathew Trussell and Dorthy Christine Watts Trussell; brother Roy Trussell; and sister Dianne Trussell Potter.
Visitation will be on Saturday, December 23, 2023 from 1:00 pm til 2:00 pm. Service will be at 2:00 pm at Nichols Funeral Home in Addison, Alabama. Burial will be at Hillcrest Cemetery in Addison.
