Iain Walton Obituary

Iain K. Walton

Peterborough, NH - Iain K. Walton, 62, of Peterborough, NH passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, September 4, 2025.

Iain was born on April 8, 1963, in Thornaby-on-Tees, England, the son of John Blair and Margaret (MacCallum) Walton. He was raised in Grimsby, Ontario Canada. He was his Class Valedictorian in high school and a Rotary exchange student to Denmark for a year. He attended Carleton University in Ottawa, Ontario where he earned a Bachelor's degree in Mass Communication.

He was a proud recipient of the 50 year survivor's certificate from the Joslin Diabetes Center.

Throughout his life, Iain exemplified dedication and integrity, both in his career and personal pursuits. He was a people person. He loved being social in both his personal and work life. He strived to make people happy. He had too many careers to list, but he had gained an expansive knowledge of working in sales, the printing industry, advertising and writing. He had worked at Winona Concrete, D. D. Bean & Sons in Jaffrey, Label Art in Wilton and most recently at Extra Space Storage.

Iain was very active in his youth and adult life, never letting his diabetes slow him down. He played football and soccer in school, but tennis and golf were his passion as an adult. He and his wife were a challenging duo in many sports they shared: volleyball, softball, broomball, tennis, pickleball, darts, the list goes on.

Always wanting to be close to his kids, he instilled his same love for sports in his children by coaching many of their youth teams including soccer, Tee-ball to Babe Ruth baseball and hockey throughout their youth and high school careers.

In later years, he loved reading, puttering around and maintaining his yard, and taking road trips to explore the rural hamlets of New England, indulging in their unique charm and local crafts.

His true passion was music. Although he chose an education at Carleton University, he had received First Class Honours from the Royal Conservatory of Music at the University of Toronto. He loved all types of music genres and could play almost any instrument. He learned the piano as a young boy and could play many songs by ear. By high school he had added clarinet to his repertoire and played in his school band. He joined a local band after moving to New Hampshire in 1990 and played with them for many years. He was the keyboardist and a vocalist.

Throughout his time with the band, he taught himself the sax, electric guitar, some bass and even the accordion.

In addition to his parents, John and Margaret Walton of Grimsby, Ontario and his younger brother Graham, Iain is also survived by his beloved wife of 35 years, Tracey Bean of Peterborough, NH and his children, Taylor, Cameron and Calle. He was preceded in death by his older brother, Andrew.

While Iain will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and colleagues, his spirit and legacy will continue to resonate through the countless lives he impacted.

Per his wishes, there will be no calling hours or formal services at this time. A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date when plans have been finalized.
