Ian Reid Conner, age 31, of Sioux Falls, SD, and formerly of Brookings, passed away at his home on Tuesday, May 20, 2025. Memorial services will be 6:30 P.M. on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, at Peace Lutheran Church in Brookings. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Eidsness Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Ian was born August 2, 1993, in Minneapolis, MN. He is the son of Timothy R. Conner and Susan M. Struwe. He spent his early years in Rapid City where he attended Zion Lutheran School. At age seven he moved with his family to Brookings and continued his education. He moved to Sioux Falls in 2014.
Ian had a curious mind and big heart. He joined Cub Scouts, took part in track and field, played baseball, and delivered newspapers - earning Carrier of the Month in April 2004. He cherished a trip to Germany with his mom at age five and his 10th birthday visit to Disney World.
In high school, Ian sang in the boys' choir during his first two years and later focused on trades and automotive studies. He had a passion for music, performing as a DJ and composing original tracks. A lifelong collector of Pokémon cards, he took pride in his collection. Ian was also an avid skateboarder.
Professionally, Ian worked in the restaurant industry, serving as a kitchen manager and chef. He loved animals and was a devoted pet owner to his pit bull, Violet. His greatest pride was being a father to his son, Malikai.
He is survived by his son Malikai (Alix); sisters Kara, Esther Probst (Armin), and Kathryn Jones (Zach). His parents Timothy R. Conner (Kathy) and Susan M. Struwe (Jeff). His uncles, Patrick and Michael Nichols and Gary and Jim Conner. Step-sister Amy (Shawn), step–brothers Dallas and Daniel. Step-niece Pepper. Step-nephews Jude, Jackson and Dylan. Step-grandnieces Amelia and Addisyn. *Esther Probst and Kathryn Jones, although not blood relatives, became a major part of Ian's life and were thus regarded as 'sisters'.
