Becker, Ida M., known as "The Lady in Red" for always being dressed in Red. She passed into eternal rest on Friday July 27th, 2012 after a short illness at the age of 101 years. Ida was the sole survivor of an Italian family of eleven children. She was predeceased by her husband Daniel and is survived by her five children, Joan Berthel (Richard), Donald (Roseanne) and Joyce Elliffe (Joseph) of Spring Hill, Linda Keeling (Vance) of Red Hook, N.Y. and Kenneth (Marguerite) of Winston Salem,N.C. In addition she is grandmother to Erin Pintye (George) of Spring Hill, Denise Becker of Tampa, Fl, Robert Becker, Thomas Becker (Gigi), Jonathan Keeling and Matthew Keeling of N.Y., Maegan Becker and Amanda Becker of N.C. The latest addition to her family is her great- granddaughter Alexandria Karissa Pintye. Ida was a very loving and active person all of her life. In addition to raising her family she found time to be a Den Mother, Campfire Girls Leader, Transcriber of Books for the Blind, and a fantastic seamstress. She also served as a Sewing Instructor for the Central Islip NY School District Adult Education Program. She was a prolific writer of Poetry and also a vibrant crafter and in her later years was a member of the Hernando County Pine Needles Group where she has many friends. Ida also worked for many years as a part time Food Service Worker at Southside Hospital in Bay Shore NY before retiring to Florida. Her bubbly personality affected many and she enjoyed giving hugs and comfort to many. The family requests that any memorial donations be made to HPH Hospice 12260 Cortes Blvd, Brooksville Fl. in her name.
