Ida Mae Burroughs, age 86, passed away peacefully at her Bradford home with her family by her side on March 13, 2025. She was born on July 2, 1938 in Dyer, Tennessee, to Freece and Finis Cox. Ida worked as a cook in the cafeteria of Polk Clark Elementary School and at ITT in Milan. Ida loved her Lord and Savior. She was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church in Milan and spent many years engaged in nursing home and prison ministries with her husband of 48 years, Pastor John Burroughs. As her health declined, she enjoyed continuing her ministry by spreading God's love in many Facebook groups that she regularly posted to.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by sons, Raymond Glisson, Gary Glisson, and Larry Glisson and two grandsons, Tommy Woods and Zachary Glisson.
Along with her husband, Ida is survived by daughter, Janice and Jay Dunagan of Trenton, son, David and Suzy Glisson of Bradford, step-sons: John 'Bubba' (Tabitha) Burroughs, David Burroughs, step-daughters: Tyreda Bynum, and Dora 'Daisy' (Shannon) Vaughn
Grandchildren: Kristy (Bishop) Burkett, Lisha (Brian) Pickard, Kelly (Kyle) Seaton, Emily Glisson, Jaquelyn Glisson, Jessica (Andrew) Belew, Rozzy Glisson, step-grandchildren: John Burroughs III, Cory Burroughs, Annah Klaire Burroughs, Jay Burroughs, Velitta Watson, Sherman Watson, Lucinda Adams, Summer Hill, McKayla Vaughn, and Dalton Vaughn, 40 great grandchildren, and 5 great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 15, 2025, at 2 PM at Bodkin Funeral Home with burial to follow on Sunday at 2 PM at Bradford Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held on Saturday from 11 AM - 2 PM at the funeral home.
