Ida Roberta Gricus, 84 years old of Lebanon TN passed away on Saturday, May 13, 2023. Ida was born in Richmond, Virginia on February 8, 1939. Ida Gricus completed her GED late in life from Cleveland State Community College in Cleveland TN.
She was married to Leonard Stanley Gricus on February 17, 1957 in Norfolk, Virginia and was a devoted mother and home maker for most of her life with brief employment in real estate, customer service and as a laborer in the manufacturing sector.
Ida had a passion for hospitality and laughter. Her sense of humor and wit was raw and infectious. She was loved by all who spent an time at all with her. Her ability to grow any plant was amazing and her love for animals was precious.
Ida was proceeded in death by her husband, Leonard S. Gricus, her father, William Earl Lockamy, mother Edna Rowland Phelps Lockamy. Ida was one of 13 children and in addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her siblings, Ernest Phelps, Frances Woodard, Edna Earle Coats, Laura Anderson, George Aubrey Phelps, Vernon Phelps, Victor Phelps, Juanita Darling, her twin brother William Lockamy and her baby sister Sylvia Anne Evans.
Ida was a mother of 6 children and was preceded in death by her youngest daughter, Frances Mae Gricus Spruill of Virginia Beach, VA and her eldest son Leonard Vance Gricus of Virginia Beach, VA.
She was survived by her daughters, Diana Lynn Gricus of Asheville, NC. (Kimberly Mynier), Linda Anne McCoy, Denise Story (James D. Story) and her son Ronald Gricus.
Grandchildren: Christopher Morris Byrum, Meghan Michelle Byrum, William Dean, James Dean, Jenny Gricus & Brian Gricus.
She was also survived by her beloved little dog, Muffin Gricus.
The family has chosen to keep the final arrangements private.
