Ida Mae Legette was born to the late James "Man" Swinton and Lillian Swinton. She was the second child of nine children, born on 1 October 1935 in Marion County hospital, South Carolina. Ida Mae departed this earthly life on Thursday, 14 August 2025. She was blessed with four sisters and four brothers and all of them preceded her in death.

Ida Mae attended the public school in Zion, SC elementary through high school. She met her sweetheart, Chester M. Legette and they were married for (60) sixty years before he passed. Her first job begins with gathering cotton, tobacco and then started factory work at SO-PAK-CO for (28) twenty-eight years.

Ida Mae accepted Christ at an early age and she was a very devoted Christian and sweet loving lady. She attended church at Jesus Christ Church of Mullins; she was a faithful member until the Lord called her home.

Ida Mae is preceded in death by her husband, Chester M. Legette; sons James Earl Legette and Herman Legette; grandson Marquiton Varshan Legette; granddaughters Kimbley Legette and Brittany M Chisholm.

Ida Mae leaves a legacy of love which will be cherish: her sons Lee Chester Legette of Newport News VA, Earnest and Maria Legette of Mullins SC, Jimmy and Hye K Legette of Stockbridge GA, Ronnie and Trina R Legette of Hampton, VA; Two sisters-in-law, Elizabeth and Wilhelmina Swinton of Mullins, SC. (26) Twenty-six grandchildren and a host of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, church family and friends.
