Ida E. Schmucker, 92, of Shipshewana, (district:35-2), passed away peacefully at 5:15 am, on Friday, August 8, at Life Care Center, LaGrange. She was born on August 6, 1933, in LaGrange, to Emmery and Mary (Chupp) Miller. On February 19, 1957, in Goshen, she married Freeman L. Schmucker, he died February 16, 2010. Surviving are four sons, Marlin (Rosemary) Schmucker of Middlebury, LeRoy Schmucker of Elkhart, Raymond (Jamie) Schmucker of Syracuse, Vernon (Irene) Schmucker of Shipshewana; four daughters, Edna Fern (Harvey) Kauffman of Middlebury, Mary (Ernest) Fry of Goshen, Ruby (Marion) Miller of Vienna, IL, Rebecca (Glenn) Miller of Vienna, IL; 43 grandchildren; 60 great-grandchildren; sister, Lizzie Ann Raber of LaGrange; brother, Amos (Alta) Miller of LaGrange. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; stillborn daughter, Laura Schmucker; three grandchildren, Mary Jean Kauffman, Glen Ray Fry, Rosalie Yoder; great-granddaughter, Nevaeh Byler; three sisters, Lydia Miller, Barbara Young, Edna Yoder; brothers, Ora, Sam, and Levi Miller. Ida was a homemaker and a member of the Old Order Amish Church. Visitation will be after 2:00 pm on Saturday, August 9, and all day, Sunday, August 10, at the Vernon Schmucker Residence: 11365 W. 300 S., Shipshewana. Funeral services will be at 9:30 am on Monday, August 11, at the same residence. Services will be conducted by Bishop Wilbur Yoder and the home ministers. Burial will be in Thomas Cemetery, Goshen. Miller-Stewart Funeral Home, Middlebury, is handling the arrangements.
