Idajean Waterous (nee Pence), age 78, of Glen Ellyn, passed away on September 23, 2025. She was born on October 12, 1946 in Evergreen Park, IL to Albert and Grace Pence. She was a graduate of Chicago Christian High School in Evergreen Park and Elmhurst College. Ida was united in marriage on May 5, 1968 to Harry George Waterous. She worked for many years at AT&T and Lucent Technologies in Engineering project management. She was an avid bike rider and world traveler, traveling with her job to many destinations which included Indonesia, Australia, New Zealand and San Diego. Ida’s religion was love and her ministry was feeding people. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and loved her family dearly.
Ida is survived by her daughter, Chris Waterous and son, Harry (Kathleen) Waterous; grandchildren, Morgan and Gavin Fiedler; brother, Albert Charles Pence; sister, Glenda Pence; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Harry in December of 2024 and brother J. Calvin Pence.
Memorial visitation will take place on Saturday, October 4, 2025 from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Norris-Segert Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 132 Fremont St. (one block north of Washington St. and Main) West Chicago. A service will take place at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Contributions in Ida’s memory may be made to Glen Ellyn Food Pantry or Feed My Starving Children.
