Ignace "Iggie" Arthur Perrin, Jr., passed away peacefully at 91
years of age on March 23, 2025 with family at his side. Iggie was
born on August 28, 1933 in Barataria, LA, to Ignace A. Perrin, Sr.,
and Adris Robichaux Perrin. He was raised with his older brother,
Leroy Perrin, by their mom until her death in 1950. He was the
step-son of Ethel Denoux Perrin. As a young man, he spent time
with his family fishing, trawling, hunting and enjoying life on the bayou.
He later graduated from Marrero High School and left Barataria in 1953 to serve our
country as a radio communications operator in the U.S. Army in
Occupied Germany. Upon his return, he attended USL, where he
studied geology. There, he met his first wife, Elmira Schadler.
They moved to New Orleans, married and had two children. After
their divorce, he married Mary Costanza and had two more
children. Early in his career, he served as spokesperson for the Public
Service Commissioner, Nat Knight, and ran for the House of
Representatives. He then had a lengthy and successful career in
sales, designing custom home kitchens. Over the years, his
outgoing personality and sincere interest in others resulted in
making many friends. He was a great conversationalist and
storyteller. He is survived by his children, Ignace "Iggie" Perrin, III,
(Christine), Debbie Vegh (Steve), Mark Perrin (Gina Rivolo) and
Todd Perrin; and his grandchildren, Jennifer Drennan (Sean),
Ignace "Iggie" Perrin, IV, (Caroline), Jonathan Vegh, Nicholas
Perrin, Madison Turcotte, Juliana Perrin, Wyatt Perrin, Braidyn
Perrin, and Paisley Perrin, as well as great grandson, Henry
Perrin, and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents,
he was preceded in death by his
wife Mary of 51 years, brother Leroy Perrin, and granddaughter Paige
Paquay. The family wishes to thank his caregiver, Charlotte, with A First
Name Basis, for her loving care over the last year.
Memorial services will be Saturday, April 5, 2025 at Mary Help of
Christian's Church (formerly St. Rosalie), 600 2nd Ave., Harvey,
LA. Visitation will be at 11 AM with a funeral mass at noon. A
reception will follow for family and friends. In lieu of flowers, donations to the
Southeast Louisiana War Veterans Home in Reserve, LA, are appreciated. Donations will
support a fund for resident recreation and welfare. Please make
