Ignacio Lua, 93, passed peacefully in his Santa Rosa home on Sunday January 28, 2024 with family members present.
A native of Cotija, Michoacán in Mexico he was the eldest of ten children. Relocating to the United States with his wife and young family, he eventually made Sonoma County home for almost 51 years, dedicating over 23 years to service at Korbel Winery. Ignacio's well-known commitment to work, family and genuine warmth had a lasting impact on those around him. His passing leaves a void, and fondly cherished memories deeply felt by those fortunate enough to have known him.
He is survived by his beloved wife Maria of 65 years. He also leaves behind seven children: Eduardo (Maggie); Maria (Robert); Irma (Salvador); Angelica (David); Maricruz (Ezequiel); Ilda (James); Ignacio Jr. (Jamie); thirteen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, many siblings, nieces, nephews, and cousins contributing to the diverse and meaningful tapestry of his family.
Family are welcome to join a private Rosary on Thursday February 15, 3:30 pm at Daniels Chapel of the Roses, 1225 Sonoma Ave. in Santa Rosa.
On Friday February 16 at 11:30 am Mass will be held at the Resurrection Parish, 303 Stony Point Rd., Santa Rosa.
Memorial donations may be made to Continuum Hospice Foundation and American Diabetes Association.
