Ila Hughes

Ila Germon Hughes (Memaw), 67, of Harkers Island, entered into her Heavenly home on Wednesday, June 26, 2024, at Novant Health Regional Medical Center in Wilmington, NC.
A funeral service to honor Ila's life will be held at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, July 7, 2024, at Refuge Fellowship Church, officiated by Pastor Manley Rose. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
Ila was born in Morehead City on March 3, 1957, to the late Bruce Germon and Pearline Guthrie Germon.
Ila had many joys in life, but her greatest joy was her family and friends. She enjoyed being a Memaw to not only her biological grandchildren but to a multitude of blessed individuals. Ila did not know a stranger, she was always the life of the party, and would never turn down an adventure, especially in the past two years as she continued to check off her bucket list with skydiving and a hot air balloon ride. Every Tuesday night you would find her at bingo with her bestie Elizabeth Guthrie.
Her favorite past times were going in the boat with her family and friends, visiting Cape Lookout and traveling all over the world with her husband Bill.
Those remaining to cherish her memory are her loving husband of 34 years, Bill Hughes; Daughter, Helena Willis and husband, Matthew, of Harkers Island; Grandsons, Patrick, Skyler and Bailey; Granddaughter, Nicole; Great-Granddaughter Julishia; along with many other Grandchildren, Great-Grandchildren and her two beloved dogs, Buddy and Puppy.
In addition to her parents, Ila was preceded in death by her brother, Tracy Germon, Grandchild, Christopher Hughes, Great-Grandchild, Paisley Mae and her precious dog Lady.
