Mrs. Ila Davis Johnson, age 87, of 164 Adams Lake Road, Union, widow of James F. Johnson, Sr., passed away, Sunday, December 7, 2025, at her home.
Mrs. Johnson was born August 12, 1938, in Lockhart, a daughter of the late Vester Davis and Ruth Sealy Davis. She was a graduate of Lockhart High School and Cecil’s Business College. Mrs. Johnson retired after 45 years from Milliken and Co. having worked at both the Lockhart and Mid-Way Plant. She was an active member of Lockhart First Baptist Church, where she had served as a Sunday School Teacher, a member of the WMU and in all phases of the church. Mrs. Johnson loved and supported her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren in all activities and hosted the “Lunch Bunch” every Sunday.
Surviving are two daughters, Rhonda Greer and husband Brent of Buffalo and Jill Scarborough of Jonesville; a son, James F. Johnson, Jr. of Union; two sisters, Lora D. Fielder of Lockhart and Ailene D. Ashe of Union; five grandchildren, Matthew Greer (Rachel), Spencer Scarborough (AnnMarie), Thomas Scarborough, Mary S. Wolfe (Cooper), and Macy Scarborough; four great-grandchildren, Bryson Scarborough, Davis Greer, IlaJae Scarborough, and Jettson Scarborough; her forever partner, Ralph H. “Lum” Edwards of Union and his children, Kathy Poole (Lee), Karen Alphonså (Bonny) and Ralph “Butch” Edwards; Ralph’s grandchildren, Bonny S. Pongnon (Marc), Cristian Alphonså, and Alex Poole and his brother, Francis Vinson of Maine; and a special family friend, Shelia Robinson. She was predeceased by a sister, Nadine D. Smith and a brother, Alex Davis.
Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 PM, Friday, December 12, 2025, at Lockhart First Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Justin Ford and Rev. Ben Hill. Burial will follow at Union Memorial Gardens.
Active pallbearers will be Matthew Greer, Spencer Scarborough, Bryson Scarborough, Alex Poole, Earl Petty, and Daniel Hill. The following are asked to sit together and form the honorary escort, Robert Edwards, Ashley Robinson, and Rev. Merritt Wentz.
Visitation will be held from 2:00 PM until 3:00 PM prior to the services at the church.
