Ilo Gjylapi

WORCESTER: Ilo Gjylapi, 68, passed away on Wednesday, March 4, 2026, in his home.

He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Alma (Dushku) Gjylapi; 3 children, Marsela and her husband, Robert of South Hadley, Olgerta Xega and her husband, Romeo of Albania, and Kristi Gjylapi and his wife, Nastila of Albania; 5 brothers, Gaqo, Pirro, Petrika, Thoma and twin brother, Koco; and 4 grandchildren, Brandon (16), Kresela (14), Natalia (10) and Emily (2). He was predeceased by his sisters, Gjinovefa and Avri.

Ilo was born in Gjanc, Albania and grew up in Korce, Albania, son of the late Guri & Dhorke (Robo) Gjylapi. He was a hard worker, providing for his family, and worked most of his life as a master stone mason. Ilo immigrated to the United States in 2015, and worked at Dimitria Delights Baking Co., in North Grafton. Among his many pastimes, he was an avid follower of European soccer, especially his favorite team: Germany. Ilo also had a love for animals and enjoyed watching Discovery Channel. Above all, he enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Visiting Hours will be held from 4 until 6PM on Saturday, March 7, 2026, in the Callahan, Fay & Caswell Funeral Home, 61 Myrtle St., Worcester. Burial will be in Albania.
