Ilse Toth, aged 101, passed away October 31, 2024, in Asheville, NC.
Ilse was born March 15, 1923, in Berlin, Germany, to the late Isidor and Irma Katzenstein. She worked as a fabric store manager and a tax reviewer. She was a member of the ladies' auxiliary of N. Patchogue Fire Department.
In addition to her parents she is preceded in passing by her husband of 76 years, Frank Toth; son, William Toth; and cousin, Renee Alevas.
Ilse is survived by her daughter, Barbara Toth of Asheville, NC; grandchildren, Brian Toth of Miami, FL, Alison Toth of Baltimore, MD, Alex Toth Boudreau of Washington, DC, and Jessica Toth Boudreau of Asheville, NC; great grandchild, Isabelle Toth-Lopez of Miami, FL; daughter in law, Mary Toth of Baltimore, MD; and additional loved ones, Debbie Zampariello, Frank Zampariello, Donald Alevas, Cindy Alevas, Audrey Zimlinghous, Kerri Zimlinghous, Diane Alder and Ricky Alder.
Ilse Toth nee Katzenstein emigrated to the U.S. at 15 with her parents, in December of 1939, from Nazi Germany. They settled in Patchogue, NY in 1941. Ilse married Frank Toth in 1942. They were married for 76 years. Ilse was the beloved matriarch of the extended family. In December of 2019, she moved to Asheville, NC, first to Bella Vista Retirement Center and the to Brooks- Howell Home. Ilse's smile brightened the lives of all who were graced by her presence.
