Imelda Artz

Imelda Veronica Artz, age 99, of the town of Norwood, died on Saturday November 1, 2025 at Pine Crest Nursing Home in Merrill. She was born on October 27, 1926 in Phlox, daughter of Adney and Minnie (Egging) Welch. She married Jerome Artz on August 18, 1945 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Phlox. He preceded her in death on January 31, 1978.
Imelda was a graduate of Mattoon High School. She was employed at Teals Foliage, farmed in the town of Norwood and tied flies for Sheldon's. She will be remembered for her cooking, homemade buns, and strawberry jam. She enjoyed playing cards and in her later years, Farkle with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
She was a member of St. Joseph Holy Family Catholic Church, Phlox and the St. Anne Society.
Survivors include two daughters, Patricia Foreman of Deerbrook and Linda (Wade) Reimer of Antigo; three sons, Robert (Sandra) Artz of Wisconsin Rapids, Richard (Jean) Artz of Antigo, and Ken Artz of Antigo; grandchildren; great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Judy (Mike) Waldvogel; son, Paul Artz; son-in-law, Gary Foreman; sisters, Ethel Baskerville, Dorothy Marx, Mildred Marx, and Eleanor Welch; and three brothers, Norman, Robert, and Floyd.
A funeral Mass will be held on Monday, November 10 at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph Holy Family Catholic Church with Rev. Charles Hoffmann officiating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
