Imelda Kormos Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by John J. Bryers Funeral Home - Willow Grove from Aug. 15 to Aug. 18, 2025.

Publish in a newspaper

Imelda Ann Kormos, formerly of Willow Grove, PA, passed away peacefully on August 14, 2025 at the age of 88 after a long illness. She was a current resident at ACTS Brittany Pointe Estates in Lansdale, PA. Born and raised in Exeter, PA, she was the youngest child of John and Mary Morris. As a child, Imelda helped with the family funeral home business and learned her mother's treasured recipes that her family would love for years to come.

After an outstanding academic career at Pittston High School, she was the first in her immediate family to pursue a medical profession, attending College Misericordia to complete a degree in nursing in 1959. Following her graduation, she married the love of her life, Harold, in 1960. Imelda began her career in hospital nursing before transitioning to school nursing in the 1970's. She served as a school nurse in the Wissahickon School District until her retirement in 2002. As a school nurse, she cared for students through illnesses both big and small, and inspired many to pursue health care careers in her role as the faculty advisor for the Health Career Club. In 1989, the high school yearbook was dedicated to her in recognition of her steadfast commitment and care for the student body.

Imelda was an active member of St. David's Parish, where her faith was a cornerstone of her life. She served as an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion, participated in the Community of Disciples, taught religious education to grade school students, led adult Bible studies, and was involved in the parish's Health Ministry.

She is predeceased by her husband Harold, and survived by her three sons and daughters-in-law, Harold and Tracey of Reading, PA; Michael and Beth of Norristown, PA; and Bill and Amy of Lexington, MA; as well as ten grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Imelda found great joy in celebrating holidays with her children and grandchildren, attending their many sporting events and theater/dance performances, and spending summer vacations at the beach- which she affectionately claimed as "my ocean." Her chocolate chip cookies and chicken soup were always welcome additions to any gathering.

Her family extends heartfelt gratitude to the nursing teams and the hospice staff at WillowBrooke Court at ACTS Brittany Pointe Estates for their compassionate care.

Relatives and friends are invited to her viewing on Friday Evening August 22, 2025 from 6:30pm to 8:30pm at the John J. Bryers Funeral Home, 406 Easton Road, Willow Grove PA 19090. A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday Morning August 23, 2025 at 10am at St. David RC Church, 316 Easton Road, Willow Grove PA 19090. Viewing in Church On Saturday at 930am

Burial will take place at Saint Mary's Byzantine Catholic Cemetery in Dallas PA. Please arrive at the cemetery by 1:15pm.
