Imelda Zimmerman Obituary
March 3, 1930 – July 7, 2025
Bakersfield – Imelda was born to Jacob Struempf and Anna Struempf in Wasco, CA. She attended St. John's Catholic School and Wasco Union High School. After graduating high school, she worked at Bank of America in Wasco. She met her husband, Bill, at a Catholic singles dance in Bakersfield and married six months later. They lived in Oildale for a short time and then moved to Fresno. Their daughter, Jean Marie, was born there and they lived there many years until moving back to Wasco where she worked at A.C. Poettgen and Son. She loved baking, reading, crossword puzzles, Scrabble, and Skip Bo.
She was preceded in death by her father, Jacob; mother, Anna; brother, Benedict {Inez}; sister, Ludwinia Wankum {Joe}; sister, Marie Poettgen {Anton}; sister, Vivian Kugler {August}; and sister, Rita Maria Struempf. She is survived by husband, Bill; daughter, Jean; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
The viewing is July 23, 20255, from 2-4 pm at Mission Family Mortuary. The funeral Mass is at Christ the King, July 24, 2025, at 9:30 am.
