Imogene "Jean" Dobbs Coffey, 82 of Stearns, Kentucky passed from this life on Sunday, December 28, 2025 after a brief illness at the Jean Waddle Hospice Care Center in Somerset.
She was born on March 4, 1943 in Co-Operative, (McCreary County), Kentucky, daughter of the late Roy Dobbs and Greedle Jones Dobbs. "Jean" as she was affectionately called by those who knew and loved her was a loving, kind-hearted woman who loved her family and friends. She enjoyed reading, shopping and gardening as well as being outdoors. She especially enjoyed being around her family and never seemed to meet a stranger. Another joy of Jean's was spending and caring for cat; "Gypsy". Jean was of the Baptist Faith and will be sadly missed by her family and friends.
Besides her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband; Darrell Coffey and a son-in-law; James Christopher "Chris" Egnew.
She leaves behind two daughters; Cynthia Egnew of Stearns, Kentucky and Cheryl Coffey Vedel of Hayward, California, two brothers; Clifford (Alene) Dobbs and Lendell Dobbs all of McCreary County, Kentucky, she is also survived by six grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
In accordance with her wishes, Cremation has been chosen and a Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Hospice of Lake Cumberland, 100 Parkway Drive, Somerset, Kentucky 42503 or the American Breast Cancer Foundation, 10440 Little Patuxent Parkway, Suite 300, Columbia, MD 21044.
