Imogene Blanche Fuller, known by all of her friends and loved ones as Blanche Fuller, 88 of Abingdon, Virginia passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 4th at Bristol Rehab and Memory Care with her loving sons Carlie and Rockie by her bedside. Blanche was born on April 24, 1936, in Haysi, Virginia to parents Henry and Julie Edwards (Owens). She grew up the eldest of five siblings in Haysi, Virginia.
Blanche was an entrepreneur early in life when she and her husband Claudie owned and operated a small country store in Haysi in the late 50’s up until it was destroyed in a flood. Later on, they purchased a combination restaurant and gas station in Haysi which she operated for many years. It was later converted into a clothing store, and finally into a small grocery store. Blanche and Claudie moved to a small farm in Hayters Gap, Virginia where she loved working in her garden, canning food, and churning her own butter. While living in Hayters Gap, Blanche worked as a cook at Patrick Henry High School and retired in 2001 after 21 years of dedicated service. Later, she and Claudie moved to their final home on Watauga Road in Abingdon, Virginia where she loved walking on the Virginia Creeper Trail with her friends. She was a member of Holston Old Regular Baptist Church in Abingdon where she became a Christian and was baptized. She attended regularly as long as her health allowed.
Blanche is survived by her two sons, Rockie Fuller and Carlie Fuller (Kim); beloved grandchildren, Jessica Fuller, Whitney Mazurek (Chris), Anna Dick (James) and Landon Fuller; beloved great grandchildren, Ava Dinapoli, Lena and Lana Mazurek, Colter and Sadie Imogene Dick; brothers, Harold Edwards (Carnie) and Eugene Edwards; sister, Barbara Dale (Wayne); sister-in-law, Phyllis Ann Edwards, and their families. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 55 years Claudie Fuller; her parents, Henry and Julie (Owens) Edwards; sister-in-law, Phyllis Jean Edwards, and her brother Lee Roy Edwards.
The family would like to thank the staff at Bristol Rehab and Memory Care for their attentive and loving care.
The family will receive friends on Monday, December 9, 2024, from 5:00 - 7:00 pm at the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service, 427 E. Main Street, Abingdon, VA 24210. The funeral service will follow at 7:00 pm with Pastor Junior Gobble officiating. Serving as pallbearers will be David Chute, James Dick, Carlie Fuller, Landon Fuller, Rockie Fuller and Chris Mazurek. The burial will be on Tuesday, December 10, 2024, at Forest Hills Memory Gardens at 11:00 am, those wishing to attend are asked to gather at the cemetery by 10:45 am.
