Imogene (Hairrell) Harris passed away from this life on October 10, 2025. Born on January 9, 1930, in Dunbar, Oklahoma, the daughter of J.C. and Janie Hairrell; brothers, Earl and Joey Hairrell
Imogene is survived by her son, John D. Harris, Jr., and his wife, Florence Biscarat Harris, of Poitiers, France. Her granddaughters are Justine, Marianne and Charlotte Harris. and they live in France; the children of her second marriage to Judge Allen Klein. They are Lee, Edie and Scott Klein as well as many nieces and nephews, including great nieces and great nephews, of the Hairrell family in Pushmataha County and elsewhere.
Imogene attended Clayton schools and graduated from Northeastern State College in Tahlequah. Imogene and her husband, John D. Harris (Sr.), graduated together from the University of Tulsa Law School on June 1st 1958. Imogene graduated at the top of her class. She and John were the first married couple to graduate the University of Tulsa Law School together, and they were the second married couple to pass the Oklahoma Bar together. Imogene retired in early 1995 after 22 years of service as a civil servant of the City of Tulsa. She served 17 years as a City Attorney, the first woman in such a position, and she served 5 years as the Attorney for the Tulsa International Airport Trust. Imogene was a trailblazer, and she one of the first female attorneys at Sun Oil Company before entering her civil service positions. She received the "Trailblazer for Women in Law" Award from the Tulsa County Bar Association. Imogene served as president of the Oklahoma Women Lawyers Association and the Tulsa County Women Lawyers Association.
Imogene received her 50-year pin from the Oklahoma Bar Association in 2009 in recognition of her 50 years of membership and work as an Oklahoma Attorney.
Graveside service will be on Saturday, November 8, 2025 at 2:00PM at Pine Spur Cemetery in Stanley, Oklahoma. Service have been entrusted to McCarn Funeral Service.
