Inetha Dacus Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Wilbourn Family Funeral Home - Lindsay on Jan. 6, 2026.
Inetha Smith Dacus was born September 3, 1932, in a farmhouse north of Lindsay to James Daniel and Ollie Ester Smith. She passed from this life and went to see her Heavenly Father on January 4, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.

At the age of 13, Inetha was saved on Easter Sunday in 1945 and baptized at the First Baptist Church of Lindsay. She faithfully served her Lord throughout her life.

Inetha attended Banner school, then began attending school at Lindsay as an 8th grader, graduating in 1950.

On September 2, 1950, Inetha was married to Elmer Dacus by Rev. Glen Buzbee. They enjoyed 69 wonderful years together.

Elmer, Inetha, and their family moved to Oklahoma City in 1961. She was a member of the Jefferson Heights Baptist Church in Oklahoma City and Southgate Baptist Church in Moore and served faithfully in many areas before moving back to Lindsay in 1974. They rejoined the Missionary Baptist Church in Lindsay where she was a leader in girls and women's missionary auxiliaries as well as teaching Sunday School, VBS, visitation, and other areas. Inetha spent hours reading and studying the Bible, having read the Bible through many times. Many pastors and missionaries enjoyed the Sunday meals she prepared for them through her kindness and hospitality.

Inetha loved being a homemaker, though at times worked outside the home. She never retired from doing good for others. She enjoyed many hobbies, including sewing, quilting, crocheting, crafts, scrapbooking, and attending the activities and events of all the grandkids. Many family members have been gifted with beautiful quilts and handmade items.

My family and I met Sis. Dacus along with her husband Elmer in 1970 when we joined Southgate Baptist Church in Moore. We enjoyed the hospitality of their home many a Sunday evening after church. She and Elmer were such a testimony to an our very young family and left a very visible path to follow in serving Jesus Christ. Praying God´s comfort and peace to each of their kids and families.
