William “Carroll” Dacus
William “Carroll” Dacus, 91, of Jonesboro, passed from this life on Saturday, January 10, 2026, at his home with his family by his side. He was born on April 11, 1934, in Jonesboro to the late Luster and Alva Dacus.
At a young age, Carroll became an ordained deacon alongside his brother, Leonard. He faithfully served as a deacon at Prospect Missionary Baptist Church and Temple Baptist Church, where he was also a longtime member. He was also a proud veteran of the United States Army.
Carroll retired from Hytrol in 1996 after 28 years of dedicated service. In addition to his career, he took great pride in caring for his farm and raising cattle. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan, loved to tinker and work with his hands, and enjoyed collecting and restoring antique tractors. Carroll was known for his sense of humor—often telling the same jokes more than once—and he loved to sing gospel music, serving as the bass singer in several quartets.
Above all, Carroll dearly loved his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife of 32 years, Billie Jean Dacus; his second wife of 21 years, Linda Dacus; his brother, Leonard Dacus; grandsons, Derek Dacus and Aaron Dacus; and son-in-law, Anthony Copeland.
He is survived by his son, Billy Dacus (Carla) of Brookland; daughter, Sherry Copeland of Jonesboro; stepson, Mel Nicholson of Paragould; grandchildren, Eric Dacus, Jennifer Vaughn (David) and Tyler Nicholson; great-granddaughter, Kyla Foster; bonus great-grandchildren, Spencer Vaughn and Raylee Vaughn; and great great granddaughter, Violet Vaughn; brother-in-law, Charles D. Long; and sister-in-law, Louise Dacus. He also leaves behind a host of other nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
Visitation will be held from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday at Emerson Funeral Home. The service will follow at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 14, 2026, with Jerry Jolly and Barry Holt officiating. Burial will follow at Macedonia Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Eric Dacus, David Vaughn, Brody Foster, Jerry Coleman, Chris Pfeifer, and Christopher Williams.
