Inez Bowen Obituary
Inez dedicated 30 years of her life as a Certified Surgical Scrub Technician at New Hanover Regional Medical Center. Her commitment to the medical field touched the lives of many. On many occasions, she dedicated her time and talents in Medical Missions in the Dominican Republic assisting surgeons with the patient care there.
She was a faithful member of Sunset Park Baptist Church, finding solace and community within its walls. She was a great witness for Jesus and his Gospel and desired that all would accept his saving grace and salvation for their lives.
Inez is preceded in death by her parents, Willoughby Allen Hockaday, Sr. and Lessie Overton Hockaday, as well as her beloved husband, James Reid Bowen who passed away in 1991.
Left to cherish her memory are her children Brenda Bowen, Sandra Bowen Sauls, Gail Risley, and James Reid Bowen, Jr. She also leaves behind numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren whose lives she touched with love and wisdom.
A time of visitation to honor and remember Inez will be on Sunday, June 2, 2024 from 4-5 pm at her home 313 Central Blvd. Wilmington. Additional parking will be at Sunset Park Baptist Church on Central Blvd.
May she rest in eternal peace and her legacy live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

My family's condolences. I remember her when I was a child as my Grandparents were lifetime members of Sunset Park Baptist Church. May God be with you all and I'm sure my Grandma Thelma and Granddaddy Bill greeted her into Heaven.

My heartfelt love and condolences to Brenda and family. Inez was a special giving soul. I will cherish and remember our special times together as her friend and hairdresser. I will never forget that beautiful smile that was always present on her face. She always saw the good in all situations. Never a harsh or negative word did I hear her say.
