Inge Katarina Dortea Layton

Inge Katarina Dortea (Gerstle) Layton, 88 of Lima, passed away November 18, 2025, at her home.
Inge was born October 2, 1937, in Bollendorf, Bitburg, Germany to Peter and Anna Gerstle, who preceded her in death. On July 15, 1958, she married the love of her life, Larry Layton, who preceded her in death on June 21, 2012.
Inge was a wonderful homemaker and a dedicated military wife. She cared for her home and her family with her whole heart. One of Inge's favorite places to be was sitting at a slot machine and she was a talented knitter. She adored cheering on her grandkids at their sporting events and, most of all, she loved spending time with her family. Inge loved deeply and left a lasting impression on everyone who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Inge is survived by her daughter-in-law, Judy Layton; children, Danny (Carol) Layton, Belinda (Rick) Sciranka, and Dawn Layton-Hamp; grandchildren, Michael L. (Chasse) Layton, Jason Layton, Jamie Layton, Patrick Sciranka, Jessica Ingles, Allison Sciranka, Jennifer (Fouad) Bazzi and Jeanna Hamp; great-grandchildren, Cody, Haylee, Coby, Hannah, Brooke, Hailey, Anthony, Max, Braeli, Carter, Kolton and Jariyah; great-great-grandchildren, Lianna and Sophie; sister, Brigitte Puetz and her special friend, Wetzel Ray.
In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by her son, Ronnie Lee Layton; grandson, Michael D. Layton and her great-granddaughter, Madison Layton.
Funeral service will be held at 4:00 PM on Sunday, November 23, 2025 at CHILES-LAMAN FUNERAL & CREMATION SERVICES - EASTSIDE CHAPEL.
Visitation will be held from 1:00 PM until the time of the service at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
