Ingeborg Garcia Obituary

Published by Porter Loring Mortuary McCullough on Aug. 1, 2019.
Ingeborg B. Garcia, age 88, passed away on Thursday, August 1, 2019 in San Antonio, TX. She was born on April 21, 1931 to her parents, Alfred and Agnes Baese in Berlin, Germany. She met her husband Colonel Roberto R. Garcia during the occupation of Berlin after World War II. He was serving in the U.S. Army and she was working on the military base. They fell in love, married and she moved to the United States as a war bride. During her husband's military career, they were stationed in several states and Panama. Ingeborg had 5 children: four girls and one boy. Upon her husband's retirement from the military, they settled in San Antonio, TX where he had grown up and still had family. While primarily a loving wife and mother, in the late 1980's, Ingeborg owned and operated a small but successful café, the Toll Haus, in downtown San Antonio. She raised her children to be strong, passionate and stalwart in knowing right from wrong. She was beautiful, kind, and loving and taught them how to be independent, brave and mischievous. Over the course of her life, she supported many charities, participated in Meals on Wheels and was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America. Ingeborg B. Garcia was preceded in death by her husband, Colonel Roberto R. Garcia and her youngest daughter, Paula Garcia. She is survived by her daughters, Gloria B. Garcia, Victoria R. Smith and Isabel B. Garcia (husband Scott Sanders); her son Robert B. Garcia (wife Nancy Cavender Garcia); her granddaughters Lacey Mies (husband Daniel Mies), Lorah Kassai (husband David Kassai) and Kylie Garcia; and great grandson, Gaberial Goentzel as well as relatives in Germany, India and across the United States. Please accept my belated condolences on the passing of your beloved mother. My late wife and I became friends with Bob and Inge when he was my boss in the 1970's and we stayed in touch for many years until Bob passed away. Inge was such a sweet and lovely lady. I was thinking about Bob today on what would have been his 92nd birthday. Much love to both.

Please accept my heartfelt condolences on the passing of your beloved mother.
I will never forget my beautiful Aunt Inge's twinkling eyes and great smiles.
I am thinking especially of her family and for the many other people who knew and cared for her in this time of loss and bereavement. May God continue to keep and bless every one of you.
Nothing rooted in love is ever lost, for it has become part of the living whole. Hold tight to memories for comfort.
