Castleton- Ingeburg H. Peter, 102, of Castleton, passed away on May 14, 2025, at Albany Medical Center. Born in Mainz, Germany she was the daughter of the late Werner and Katharina Furthmann. She was preceded in death by her husband Leonard J. Peter. Together they raised their family in East Schodack where she was very involved in the community. Her family owned and operated Peter's General Store in the center of town for many years. Ingeburg was one of the founding members of the East Schodack Garden Club who were tasked with keeping the community beautiful. She also enjoyed bowling in the East Schodack Rec. League. Ingeburg was an avid gardener and enjoyed tending to her house plants and spending time with her pets. Above all else she was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
She is survived by her children, Bernhard (Susan) Peter, Kenneth (Rena) Peter and Debra Peter; grandchildren, Kerrie (Don), Tracy (Mark), Nicholas (Melissa), Julie (Jason), Theresa (Justin), Ashley (Gregory), Kaylee (Gabriel), Christopher and James. She is also survived by her great grandchildren, Haiden, Hailey, Lucas, Leah, Olivia, Emma, Meekah, Brayden, Grayson, Brooke, Benjamin, and Hailey.
A graveside service will be held at the Mountain View Cemetery, Scott Ave. Castleton, NY 12033 on Thursday, June 5, at 10:00am. All are invited to attend
In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Ingeburg's memory to the ASPCA.
